GENERAL AREA INFORMATION

 

NorthEast BC Realty office is located in Fort St John BC.

 

Fort St John plays a major role in the infrastructure of north east British Columbia. StatsCan showed Fort St John’s population in 2011 as 26,380 (of which 7,385 were under 20 and 1,830 over 65). Over the past decade the median household income has continued to exceed provincial averages hovering in the $80,000+ range.

 

As a hub community, Fort St John’s economy is driven by energy sector industries related to oil & gas, electric power, forestry, farming and more. Companies with key presence in the area include; Oil & Gas Commission, Canfor Peace Valley OSB Plant, Macro Industries, Shell Corporate Regional Office, Talisman, Spectra Energy, Conocophillips, just to name a few.

 

Other resource driven industries in the area include; Spectra Energy Transmission - Taylor Complex/McMahon Plant, Shell’s Groundbirch/Montney natural gas processing plants, Tervita disposal management facility, BC Hydro power generating stations - including the proposed SITE C Clean Energy Project along the Peace River.

 

Over 65,000 people live and work in the north east BC area within the communities of Taylor, Dawson Creek, Hudson Hope, Tumbler Ridge, Chetwynd, and Fort Nelson. But Fort St John remains the hub of services to the area.

 

Northern Health recently completed the new Fort St John Regional Hospital and Residential Care Facility. The $300+ million dollar complex opened June 2012 and continues to grow with additions to equipment to meet the needs within the community.

 

The North Peace Regional Airport located only minutes from Fort St John’s city center, delivers corporate and personal air travel with services provided from Baileys Helicopter, Qwest Helicopters, Highland Helicopters, Central Mountain Air, North Cariboo Air, Air Canada, and WestJet.
